. NEW YEAR

This is a story of disconnected friends. It should begin with some mention of having friendships that have lasted 60 + years within the family but so what? Instead, let’s discuss what happens to the bond that used to be there. Is it like unplugging a TV or really just letting your sociopath flag fly? Mind melding with just one person vs. bevy of BFFs causes wonder about the ones that are still someplace, just not here. It’s like disenfranchise without the fries. You can go to places where self entertainment flourishes and it gives a real sneakers-on-the-tartan feel to imagined aloneness without any of the cacophony of group grabs in the shitpool. Can there be a more selfish portrayal or is it just a joking nihilist impression? If we go with the hook that today’s vicissitudes in no way diminish yesterday’s comradery, then the love ‘splaination suffices. Otherwise, get me to the shrink on time.

There’s a current within, maybe even a riptide that stays below for the sake of blending into the background. That scorekeeper at Lincoln High commenting that “Zadjeika is hot today” keeps replaying like the Walker furniture jingle stuck in my head. If I did that with chum tales the nostalgia would vaporize the moment for mere recollection purposes. Mule train: clippetty-clopping over hill and plain.
